Terms of Use

The terms that govern use of this referral and information service, including that the site is not a contractor and performs no clearing work itself.

These terms govern your use of Green Mountain Landworks, a referral and information service operated by AIXIS LLC, a Vermont limited liability company. The most important point is the first one: this site is not a contractor and does not perform land-clearing work. Read this before relying on anything here. Last updated 2026-09-01.

What this site is, and is not

Green Mountain Landworks is an information and referral service. It helps landowners understand land-clearing and forestry-mulching work and connects them with independent contractors. We are not a land-clearing contractor, a forester, a surveyor, an attorney, or a permitting authority, and nothing on this site is the performance of any of those services. Any clearing work is carried out by independent contractors under their own contracts, insurance, licensing and liability. We do not employ them, supervise their work, or guarantee it.

No professional, legal, or regulatory advice

The guides, calculators, service descriptions and regulatory summaries on this site are general information, not advice about your specific property. Regulatory figures — permit thresholds, buffer distances, setbacks — are summarised from public sources as of the date shown beside them and can change. They are a starting point for questions to the relevant authority, not a determination for your parcel. Nothing here authorises any work, confirms any boundary, delineates any wetland, or grants any permit. Before clearing, you are responsible for confirming boundaries, utilities, wetlands, shorelands, permits and every other applicable requirement with the appropriate authorities and qualified professionals.

The cost calculator is a planning range, not a quote

The calculator produces an illustrative planning range from the assumptions you enter. It is not a quote, a bid, a feasibility finding, a safety determination, or a guarantee of availability or price. Actual scope and cost depend on a site review by a contractor.

Requests and referrals

Submitting a request does not create a contract, guarantee that any contractor will respond, or guarantee that work is feasible, permitted, or available for your property. Any agreement for work is solely between you and the contractor you choose.

Your responsibilities

Intellectual property

The text, guides, tables, calculators, layout and design of this site are owned by AIXIS LLC or its licensors and are protected by law. You may read and share links to the pages, but you may not copy, republish, or build a competing service from the content without permission.

Third-party links

This site links to government agencies and other third-party resources for verification. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or availability. A link is not an endorsement.

Disclaimer of warranties

The site is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, AIXIS LLC will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your use of the site, from any information on it, or from any work performed by a contractor you engage. This includes decisions made in reliance on any regulatory summary, calculator output, or guide. Any clearing work carries real physical, financial and regulatory risk, and that risk sits with you and the contractor you engage, not with this site.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless AIXIS LLC from any claim arising out of your use of the site or your engagement of any contractor.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Vermont, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Vermont.
