01How far do you travel for a project?

Roughly a two-hour mobilisation window from Essex, Vermont, screened address by address. Larger, specialised or multi-day projects justify longer travel than a half-day job does, so the extended markets suit bigger scopes.

02Why does the same job cost differently in different towns?

Because the ground is different. Champlain Valley clay, Adirondack ledge and White Mountain granite each set their own production rate and working season, and each carries a different dominant regulation. A rate from one market does not transfer to the next.

03What is different about clearing in Vermont?

24 Vermont markets are covered. The dominant regulatory question across much of the state is class II wetlands carry a 50-foot buffer zone (Vermont Wetland Rules; 10 V.S.A. Chapter 37), and heavy clay in the Champlain Valley makes frozen-ground timing more important here than almost anywhere else.

04What is different about clearing in New York?

9 New York markets are covered, from the Champlain lowland to the Adirondack High Peaks. New York rules are not Vermont rules: DEC regulates freshwater wetlands over 12.4 acres with a 100-foot adjacent area, dropping to 7.4 acres on 1 January 2028, and Adirondack Park parcels face a second agency's jurisdiction on top.

05What is different about clearing in New Hampshire?

5 western New Hampshire markets are covered. Protected shoreland there runs 250 feet from the reference line of public waters and includes fourth-order and greater streams, so river-frontage parcels are shoreland in a way they would not be in Vermont.

06Do you cover every address in these towns?

No page can promise that. A town appearing here marks an intended market, not guaranteed availability. Safe equipment access, transport routing, project size and current capacity all have to be confirmed for the specific address before anything is scheduled.

07What decides whether my property is workable?

Access first — gate width, bridge weight, turnaround, staging and the approach grade — then the ground: slope, side slope, rock, wet areas and the largest stem. Many parcels have a workable envelope smaller than the deed acreage, especially in the mountains.

08How does ferry or border geography affect a project?

On the islands and the New York side, equipment crosses a bridge, a ferry or the international border, and transport scheduling and machine weight become part of the mobilisation cost before any site consideration. Some parcels are only reachable seasonally.

09Is winter really the best time?

Often, on heavy soils — frozen ground carries a machine without rutting. But on a steep side slope ice removes traction, so the mountain markets prefer a dry autumn. The right season is per-parcel, which is why each town page states its own window.

10Which regulation should I check first for my town?

The town pages name the one that bears hardest locally — wetlands, shoreland, stormwater or forestry — with its citation and a link to the agency. On top of that, every parcel has town bylaws that are published nowhere central and have to be asked town by town.

11Can you screen my property remotely?

For an initial range, usually. Send a map pin, a marked aerial, dimensions, wide and close photos, the largest stem with a tape beside it, and a photo of any slope from the side. Boundaries, hidden debris, wet ground and feasibility may still need an on-site visit.

12Who confirms whether my parcel has regulated ground?

The property owner, working with the relevant state agency — not the contractor and not a map. Every agency involved says plainly that its own mapping is a screening tool, not a determination. The town pages name the authority whose answer counts for that market.

13Does a longer drive mean a minimum project size?

Effectively, yes. Extended-zone work usually needs a multi-day, specialised, or combined scope to justify the transport, whereas a core-area parcel can support a smaller job. It is a screen, not a refusal — ask about your specific project.
